DeltaV@CMU

DeltaV@CMU Project Overview

Five masters students at Carnegie Mellon University were challenged by Emerson Process Management to make their process control software, DeltaV, easier to use by plant operators. Beginning in January 2006, the team embarked on a mission to meet Emerson's challenge by intimately studying how plant operators currently work with both DeltaV and competing systems. Guided by our user research, after several rounds of prototype iteration and user testing, our final design allows users to quickly analyze historical process data, making plant control more efficient.

The DeltaV@CMU Web site presents our research findings, design process, and final concept, as well as background information on the Carnegie Mellon student team, Emerson Process Management, and DeltaV process management software.
